Bhubaneswar: In anticipation of a cyclone that is expected to hit the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28, several Odisha districts have taken precautionary measures. The districts of Kendrapara, Balasore, and Ganjam have cancelled the leaves of government officials.

In Kendrapara, the District Collector has ordered government employees not to leave headquarters from October 26 to 30. Similarly, in Balasore, the District Collector has cancelled all leaves until the situation is under control, directing employees on leave to join work immediately. Officials in Balasore are also required to obtain prior permission before leaving their headquarters.

In Ganjam, leaves of government staff have been cancelled due to the impending cyclone threat. The District Magistrate has instructed officials not to leave headquarters, ensuring that key personnel are available for coordination and decision-making.

Similarly, leaves of all government employees in Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Khurdha, Kalahandi and Gajapati have been cancelled. The Collectors have warned them of serious action in case of deviation from the directives.

These measures are part of emergency preparedness efforts to mitigate the impact of the cyclone on the state’s coastal districts, which are expected to experience heavy rainfall under its influence.
