Bhubaneswar: In view of disruption caused by Cyclone Arnab in southern Odisha, Koraput MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka has requested Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to reschedule OCS Mains examination at Jayapur centre.
Writing to OPSC Chairman Arun Kumar Sarangi on Wednesday, Ulaka said electricity, road connectivity and public transport have been badly affected in south Odisha, making it difficult for candidates to appear for the exam starting October 31.Candidates from Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur will face problems in reaching Jayapur safely, he said.
He further said cancellation of Hirakhand Express and other trains has worsened travel problems, particularly for aspirants who are studying or working outside. Ulaka also flagged that some candidates engaged in essential services have been denied leave till October 31 due to cyclone duties, which may stop them from taking the exam.
Stating that last days before competitive exam are crucial, Ulaka said disruption in power, transport and essential services would put candidates of this region at a disadvantage compared to others.
He urged OPSC to hold examination at Jayapur centre after normalcy returns, or if centre-specific rescheduling is not possible, to revise the entire schedule.
