Cuttack: Twenty teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will be dispatched to the districts likely to be affected by the impending Cyclone Dana on Tuesday.
The teams have been sent from the NDRF Third Battalion station in Mundli, Cuttack, to the districts that are likely to be affected by the cyclone. In the first phase, one NDRF team has been sent to Puri, two to Bhadrak, two to Balasore, two to Jagatsinghpur, two to Kendrapara, and one to Mayurbhanj.
These 10 NDRF teams are equipped with sophisticated life-saving and relief gadgets. The teams will remain in their respective areas and help in the relief and restoration work in the post-cyclone period.
In the first phase, 10 teams have been deployed and, if necessary, more teams will be sent to the affected districts, said NDRF Third Battalion Second-in-Commandant Bardhaman Mishra.
Meanwhile, the state government has asked for more NDRF teams to deal with the impending cyclone. The state government has written a letter to the Central government to send 10 additional NDRF teams. Additional Special Relief Commissioner Padmanabh Behera has written a letter to the ADG Law and Order requesting the deployment of the team. A request has also been made to deploy NDRF teams from outside the state to deal with the damage caused by cyclone ‘Dana’ in the state.
