Cyclone Dana Impact: Heavy To Very Heavy Rainfall Predicted In Three Districts

Bhubaneswar: The severe cyclonic storm Dana, which made landfall on Thursday midnight, is likely to weaken into a deep depression in the next four hours, informed the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Regional Director Manorama Mohanty.

Briefing the mediapersons, Mohanty said, “Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts have been issued red alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall. Similarly, an isolated heavy rainfall alert has also been issued for the districts of Cuttack, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Keonjhar and a heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Angul, Nayagarh, and Puri districts.”

Rajkanika in Kendrapara district recorded the highest rainfall of 157 mm in the past 24 hours. Other areas, including Rajnagar, Marshaghai, and Derabis, also received significant rainfall, ranging from 100 mm to 120 mm.

Similarly, Oupada in Balasore recorded 109 mm, Basudevpur (Bhadrak) 110 mm and Balianta in Khordha district recorded a maximum of 92 mm of rainfall.
