Bhubaneswar: Principal Secretary, Commerce and Transport Department Usha Padhee emphasised to ensure quick responses to any disruptions in transport and public safety in a detailed dash-board review here. She underlined the need for full operational readiness in anticipation of Cyclone “Dana”.
The directives focused on ensuring coordination and efficiency across transport and waterway systems. All officers of Commerce & Transport were instructed to be fully prepared for the cyclone’s impact.
The Transport Commissioner and RTAs are tasked with ensuring transport systems remain operational and responsive in emergency . The Director of Ports & Inland Water Transport (IWT) has been instructed to issue a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for cyclone preparedness along waterways and coastal regions, with a focus on safety coordination. Field officials were directed to stay on high alert for pre, during, and post-cyclone scenarios.
The STA has also been advised to be cautious of the possible cyclone and to avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary.
Transport Commissioner Amitav Thakur, CMD OSRTC Diptesh Kumar Pattanaik, Director Ports & IWT, Padmalochan Roul, Director Printing & Stationary Arun kumar Ray and other senior officials, highlighted the coordinated effort across multiple sectors to ensure effective disaster response.
