Cyclone Michaung: ECoR Cancels 60 Trains, Opens Crisis Management Cell

Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has cancelled as many as 60 trains and opened a Crisis Management Cell in view of an impending cyclone over Bay of Bengal which is likely to hit the Andhra Pradesh coast on December 5.

As many as 60 express trains originating, terminating and passing through ECoR’s jurisdiction have been canceled to ensure the safety of passengers, a statement issued by East Coast Railway said.

The Helpline Number was opened for providing any information or assistance for the convenience of passengers.

The East Coast railway intensified patrolling at vulnerable locations by deputing patrolmen & Watchmen.

An additional Control Room & Disaster Management Cell will operate at the Divisional Headquarters.

Instruction has been given to officials to remain alert with continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations and Early Mobilization of resources for quick Restoration of Track, Signaling System and OH E installations etc.

Cyclone Michaung

As per IMD bulletin, Cyclone Michaung which intensified into a severe cyclonic storm today, will make landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam, close to Bapatla during forenoon of December 5. Under its influence heavy rain has started in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Several parts of south Odisha are also likely to to experience incessant rain on December 5.
