Bhubaneswar: Two minor schoolgirls died after a boundary wall of a primary school collapsed in Gajapati district on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Idanti Raita, a Class IV student, and Bekilesa Raita, a Class V student.
According to reports, the incident occurred at Rubudisingh Primary School when the two students were playing near the school boundary wall after classes had ended for the day. The wall, which had reportedly been in a weakened condition for several years, suddenly collapsed, trapping the girls underneath.
Locals rushed to the spot and attempted to rescue the children before emergency services arrived. However, both students were declared dead on the spot due to severe injuries.
Upon being informed, police reached the site and initiated an investigation into the incident.
