Bhubaneswar: The weather department has predicted rain in parts of Odisha on December 4 and 5 under the influence of a low-pressure area which is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by December 5.
“Light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over south Coastal and adjoining south Interior Odisha on 4th and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over the same region on 5th December,” a weather bulletin stated.
Parts of Tamil Nandu will experience light to moderate rain on December 2 and 3 while very heavy rainfall activities are predicted in Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on December 3 and 4.
The depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards and intensified into a deep depression on Saturday.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards, intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over Southwest Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it would move northwestwards and reach westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamilnadu coasts by forenoon of December 4.
Thereafter, it would move nearly northwards almost parallel and close to south Andhra Pradesh coasts and cross South Andhra Pradesh coasts between Nellore and Machilipatnam during forenoon of 5th December as a Cyclonic Storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph.
