Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal has further intensified. The system, which formed yesterday, has become more marked today and extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height.
According to the India Metrological Department, it is tilting southwards with height and is active over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal. Under its influence, a Low Pressure area is likely to form over the same region on August 29. Due to this system, Odisha is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days.
The IMD has issued a warning for thunderstorms with lightning and rainfall for more than half of the districts in the state today. An Orange Warning has been issued for Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts for heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Besides, a Yellow Warning has been issued for 19 districts for thunderstorms and rainfall.
The Weather Department has issued warnings for the entire state on August 29 and 30. On August 31, extremely heavy rainfall is likely in Western Odisha.
