Bhubaneswar: Acting on the allegations of disproportionate assets amassed by Bijay Kumar Parida, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Rayagada Peripheral in Rayagada district, the Odisha Vigilance on Thursday launched simultaneous house searches at properties owned by and linked to the DFO.
The raids are being conducted by 8 Vigilance DSPs, 6 Inspectors, and other staff on the basis of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, at seven places in Rayagada, Khurdha, Cuttack and Jajpur districts.
The raids are underway at the following places:
- Residential government quarter of Bijay Kumar Parida, DFO, located at Gandhi Nagar Area near Kali Puja Padia under Rayagada police limits.
- His office located at Raniguda farm, Rayagada.
- Flat No 304, 3rd floor, Block-A, Ashirbad Plaza, Kalarhanga, Patia, Bhubaneswar.
- G+2 storyed under construction building located at Khata No 200/391, Plot No. 16/708, Mouza – Srikoruan, PO – Urali under Cuttack Sadar police limits in Cuttack district.
- The house of the DFO’s relative located at village Srikoruan, PO – Urali under Sadar police limits in Cuttack.
- A rented residential house of another relative located at Plot No. 339/3105, Shisu Vihar, Patia, Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar.
- A house at his native village Damodarpur, PO- Manatira, under Kalinga Nagar police limits in Jajpur district..
During the searches, one G+3 storeyed building of 9,500 sqft area with approx valuation Rs 1.8 crore, 1 triple storeyed building, and one flat in Bhubaneswar, 8 plots, Cash worth Rs.1.24 lakh along with other assets were unearthed by the Vigilance sleuths.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the 8 plots and flats is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
The searches are still underway and a further report is awaited.
