Bhubaneswar: The darshan of Lord Jagannath and His sibling deities Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra at the Gundicha Temple in Puri has been restricted up to 5.00 pm on Tuesday as preparations for the Bahuda Yatra of the Puri Holy Trinity on Wednesday is in full swing.
After spending a week inside Gundicha temple, the deities will commence their Bahuda Yatra or return journey to the Puri Srimandia tomorrow. However, before the retreat to Shree Jagannath Temple, Sandhya Darshan of the deities has begun at the Adapa mandap this morning.
Meanwhile, thousands of devotees have already queued up outside the Gundicha Temple in Puri for the darshan of the deities after the completion of Mangala Alati. Keeping in view the large number of devotees who throng the Gundicha Temple for the Sandhya Darshan, the local administration and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has made various security arrangements.
During the return journey of the deities on Thursday, the chariots of the Holy Trinity will stop for a brief while at the Mausima Temple, also known as Ardhasani Temple which is dedicated to Lord Jagannath’s aunt. At this temple, the three deities are offered ‘Poda Pitha’, a special sweet made of rice, coconut, lentils, and jaggery. Following this, the deities start their journey to the Shree Jagannath Temple. The chariots of Subhadra and Balabhadra move forward and are parked in front of Lion’s gate (Singha Dwara) of the temple whereas the chariot of Lord Jagannath stops in front of the Gajapati King’s palace for another event known as ‘Laxmi Narayana Bheta’.
