Day Temperatures May Touch 40°C In Odisha Next Week: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda and Malkangiri were the hottest places in Odisha during the last 24 hours recording the highest day temperature of 38°C, followed by Phulbani and Bhawanipatna – both recording 37.5°C. On the other hand, Angul recorded the lowest maximum temperature of Angul 18°C in the state, the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here said on Tuesday.

The day temperatures (maximum temperature) at 13 places in the state were 37°C or above on Monday.

The weather office has warned that the day temperatures at several places in Odisha may touch or go beyond 40°C by the first week of April. From March 29 onwards, the maximum temperatures will rise gradually by 2°C- 4°C and remain above normal.

Most parts of the state are currently experiencing dry weather. However, several places in north Odisha may experience rain and thunderstorms today. Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, and Jajpur may experience light rain today.
