Bhubaneswar: In a joint operation led by Chhattisgarh and Telangana police forces, 4,396 iron spikes were seized from the Pusuggupa forest area in Telangana’s Charla Mandal, bordering Malkangiri district.

Police forces with the CRPF have unearthed 70 deadly booby traps equipped with sharp iron spikes planted by banned Maoists, said SP of Bhadradri Kothagudem.

The iron spikes were salvaged from the booby traps and seized by the forces.

People living in the bordering areas are cautioned against the bobby traps and asked to remain alert.

In recent times, numerous innocent tribals, wild animals as well and police officials operating in the forest were victims of the deadly traps and IEDs planted by the Naxalites.
