Balangir: In a tragic and unusual incident, a woman reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage due to loud music being played on a DJ sound system during a wedding procession at Patnagarh area of Balangir district.
The deceased has been identified as Lochana Bahuk from Brahmapura village under Patnagarh police limits.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Lochana was bathing her granddaughter near a handpump by the roadside. A wedding procession with a DJ playing at full volume passed through the area. The deafening sound caused her immense discomfort.
Family members said she repeatedly requested the DJ operators to lower the volume, but her pleas were ignored. Soon after, Lochana fell seriously ill. She was first rushed to Patnagarh Hospital and later shifted to Balangir District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment. However, she succumbed during treatment.
Her family has alleged that the intense DJ sound caused a vein to rupture in her brain, leading to her death. Lochana was the sole breadwinner of the family and ran a small roadside hotel to support them. Her untimely death has left the entire family devastated and helpless.
Local residents have expressed shock over the incident, with many questioning the unregulated use of high-decibel DJ music during processions.
