Bhubaneswar: The deep depression over south Odisha and adjoining north coastal Andhra Pradesh is likely to weaken into a depression within the next six hours while continuing to move north-northwestwards, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
According to the IMD bulletin issued at 1730 hrs IST on September 24, the system moved northwestwards at a speed of 10 kmph during the past six hours and lay centred over south Odisha and adjoining north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The system was located near latitude 19.1°N and longitude 83.0°E, about 40 km northeast of Koraput in Odisha, 60 km northwest of Parvatipuram in Andhra Pradesh, 90 km south-southwest of Bhawanipatna, 100 km east of Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh and 270 km south-southeast of Raipur.
The weather system is very likely to continue moving north-northwestwards and weaken gradually into a depression during the next six hours, the IMD said.
Thereafter, it is expected to maintain its north-northwestward movement and weaken further over the subsequent 24 hours.
The system is being continuously monitored by the Doppler Weather Radar at Visakhapatnam.
