Delhi Police Picks Up Bhubaneswar IT Professional Over Hacking Allegations

Bhubaneswar: A team of Delhi Police raided an apartment at Laxmi Sagar in Bhubaneswar on Friday night and picked up an IT professional for allegedly hacking a government website.

The accused identified as Prabhat Patra is a software professional. Prabhat was residing in a flat at Laxmi Sagar area. Prabhat, who runs an office in Bhubaneswar, is alleged to have hacked a government website.

Delhi police carried out raids with the help of Laxmi Sagar police and seized a computer and mobile phone from Patra’s possession.

Police, meanwhile, detained Patra for interrogation.

Odisha has registered a spike in the number of cybercrime cases. According to a report released by the National Crime Records Bureau, Odisha witnessed 542 cases of cybercrime against women in 2022,
