Bhubaneswar: Deogarh MLA Subash Chandra Panigrahi and his associates who had been arrested on charges of assaulting the Block Development Officer of Tileibani have been granted conditional bail.
The court directed them to deposit a bail bond of Rs 50,000 along with a personal surety from another person. They have been asked to cooperate with the investigation, not influence or intimidate witnesses.
Tileibani BDO Krushnachandra Dalapati had been allegedly assaulted by Panigrahi and his aides at Chhepalipali village on April 30. Panigrahi was arrested by Deogarh police from his MLA quarter in the city on May 1.
The MLA was sent to judicial custody after his bail was denied. He was rushed to the Deogarh district headquarters hospital that night after he fell ill. He was later transferred to Burla as his condition worsened.
