Dereliction Of Duty: Three Cops Suspended For Ignoring Loot Victims’ Pleas

Bhubaneswar: Nayagarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Jain suspended three police officials including Sub-inspector (SI) of Nayagarh Sadar Police Station Hasina Pradhan, Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Rajeswari Nayak and constable Purnachandra Mohapatra on charges of dereliction of duty.

The suspension follows allegations that the officers instructed complainants to return home instead of filing their complaints, thereby neglecting their duties.

According to sources, a series of thefts occurred in Golagola village, under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station, on Monday night. The victims of these thefts, who had reportedly lost ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh, rushed to the Sadar police station to file their complaints. However, instead of registering their complaints and taking prompt action, the on-duty police officers allegedly told the victims to return and come to file FIRs the next morning, delaying the investigation and action on the loot cases.
