Bhubaneswar: Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources Department Anu Garg held a detailed review on flood management with the senior engineers of the department on Monday.
According to an official press release, Garg took stock of the present flood scenario consequent to the release of flood water from Hirakud reservoir with the opening of 20 numbers of gates and its impact on the downstream area. She stressed upon to maintain the level of Hirakud reservoir as advised by the special technical committee formed for the purpose.
The DC-cum-ACS reviewed the reservoir position of all major and medium irrigation projects across the State given the IMD forecast for possible rain ahead and has directed that the release of water from these reservoirs should be monitored scrupulously.
She has also instructed all the Dam authorities to intimate the district administration personally through email or WhatsApp or over the phone well before the release of flood water as well as to follow the SOP. All the senior officers are directed to impress their field-level officers to remain vigilant during the flood scenario.
Today DC- Cum- ACS Garg has also reviewed the flood scenario with the senior Engineers of the Water Resources Department. All have been asked to stay alert during the floods.
