Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania held a review meeting at his camp office in Bhubaneswar today to discuss measures for managing the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, scheduled to take place at Janata Maidan from January 8 to 10, hassle-free
In the context of this three-day program, the preparation of the police department, management, recruitment of police officers, and traffic management were reviewed in detail during the meeting.
The conference will be attended by VVIPs, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several senior ministers of the Union Government, as well as guests, overseas Indians, and officials from the Department of External Affairs. In view of this, DGP Khurania has ordered extensive arrangements to be made by the police administration.
He directed senior officials to take appropriate measures regarding airport security, proper security arrangements at the time of guest arrival, security arrangements for VVIPs, security of the Janata Maidan event venue, VVIP route lines, and traffic arrangements on those roads.
Khurania conducted a detailed review of vehicle parking, security arrangements, and related preparations at the festival venue. Additionally, the DGP has directed that appropriate measures be taken for the safe stay of guests in various hotels. Guests will also visit various tourist places, and the DGP emphasized the need to increase security at tourist places in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri. Furthermore, the DGP has directed that hotels in the districts of Cuttack, Puri, and other districts, including the capital Bhubaneswar, be strictly checked.
Regular hotel inspections must be conducted, and complete guest details must be kept with the police. Senior police officers have been directed to ensure proper supervision. The meeting also discussed better management of the CCTV system in cities and streamlining traffic control. The DGP advised being always ready and alert to avoid any untoward incidents.
Intelligence Director R.P. Koche, Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar, Commissioner of Police (Cuttack-Bhubaneswar) S. Devadatta Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Dayal Gangwar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Cuttack-Bhubaneswar) Dr. Umashankar Dash, IG (Central) Charan Singh Meena, and DCP (Bhubaneswar) Pinak Mishra were present at the meeting.
