Bhubaneswar: With the first T20 International between India and South Africa set to be played at Cuttack’s iconic Barabati Stadium on December 9, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania on Saturday conducted an on-ground review of security arrangements at the venue.
The DGP examined the preparedness for player safety, crowd management, and overall security in and around the stadium. He informed that a three-tier security system has been deployed to ensure a safe and seamless experience for both players and spectators.
As part of the review, detailed assessments were carried out on traffic and parking arrangements, strict frisking at entry and exit points, CCTV surveillance, anti-sabotage measures, overall police deployment, and special protocols for the arrival and departure of both teams.
DGP Khurania expressed satisfaction with the preparations and said the Odisha Cricket Association has made “excellent arrangements” this year. He added that Barabati Stadium has a history of successfully hosting major international fixtures and hoped that, as in previous years, spectators would extend full cooperation to ensure a smooth event.
Advising spectators to arrive three to four hours early to avoid last-minute congestion, the DGP assured that the police are taking every possible step to ensure the match is conducted in a peaceful, safe, and disciplined manner.
Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, Additional Commissioner Narasingha Bhol, Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, senior police officials, and representatives of the Odisha Cricket Association were also present during the review.
