Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri is set to introduce a much-awaited queue system, known as Dhadi Darshan, likely from September 15, pending necessary preparations and approvals.

According to Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee will be formed soon, and the relocation of the Hundi will be a key agenda item in its first meeting.

Following the Hundi’s relocation, the temple administration plans to initiate the Dhadi Darshan process within a week, aiming for a mid-September launch. This new system is designed to reduce congestion inside the temple, particularly at Bhitara Katha, allowing devotees to have a smoother darshan of the trinity, the minister added.

The temple administration has been working on various initiatives to enhance the devotee experience. Recently, discussions were held with Sura Maha Sruar Nijoga regarding the rate chart for Maha Prasad in Anand Bazar, and a decision is expected soon, he noted.

Furthermore, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Jnana Yajna Mandap near the temple premises has been prepared, and the tender process will commence shortly. This development is part of the temple’s ongoing efforts to improve facilities for pilgrims.

The Dhadi Darshan system was initially planned to start in January 2025, but faced delays due to the Hundi relocation and other logistical considerations. The new system will feature six lanes, including dedicated queues for women, children, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals, ensuring a more organised and accessible darshan experience
