Bhubaneswar: The Special Squad of Commissionerate Police arrested the fourth accused in the Dhauli gang-rape case, from Badagada area.
The accused has been identified as Sagar Jena. With Sagar’s arrest, police have arrested four persons in connection with the Dhauli infamous gang-rape case which occurred on December 10.
The incident had sparked widespread outrage in the capital city. Police are still searching for the fifth accused, who remains at large.
Notably, the girl and her male friend had gone to the area on the fateful day when two miscreants, who were later joined by others, intercepted the duo and demanded money. When the boy refused, they dragged him to a secluded spot and attacked him with sharp objects and stones. The girl was then allegedly gangraped by the two men, who also recorded the crime on their mobile phones. The accused threatened the victim with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone. Later the victim’s mother filed a complaint with Dhauli police.
