Nabarangpur: Diarrhoea broke out at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Khatiguda in Nabarangpur district, affecting 127 students.
The district health department confirmed that 122 students out of 506 were infected yesterday, with five new cases reported today.
A medical team from Tentulikhunti Community Health Centre visited the school yesterday, admitting nine students for treatment after conducting health check-ups on the spot. Another medical team is currently stationed at the school, conducting further health check-ups.
To determine the cause of the outbreak, a medical and sample testing team from Nabarangpur is investigating the school’s water and food quality. Preliminary findings indicate that the drinking water used by students had zero bleaching.
The medical team plans to collect water and food samples for laboratory testing.
“We rushed to the spot upon receiving information and began treatment. Ten students were referred to the hospital as their condition deteriorated, and they are under observation,” said a doctor.
