Bhubaneswar: Discrepancy in birth date has led to the termination of an Anganwadi worker in Mayurbhanj district.

Sumi Singh Samburai, who was working as an Anganwadi worker at Dewanbahali– II block, was found to have different birth dates in various documents. An investigation revealed that Sumi’s birth date was 1995 in her Anganwadi documents, 1999 in her school certificate, and 2000 in her high school certificate.

The discrepancy in Sumi’s birth dates came to light after a complaint was filed, prompting the district administration to conduct a thorough investigation. Following the findings, the district administration has terminated Sumi’s services with immediate effect.

The district collector has, meanwhile, directed the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Kaptipada block to initiate the process of recruiting a new Anganwadi worker.

“With reference to the subject cited above, I am to intimate that the Collector & District Magistrate, Mayurbhanj has been pleased to order to take appropriate steps for disengagement of Smt. Sumi Singh Samburai from the post of AWW of Dewanbahali-II AWC of Kaptipada ICDS project and to issue fresh notification for the engagement of AWW of Dewanbahali-II AWC as per government guideline and procedure”, read the letter issued by District Social Welfare Officer to CDPO.
