Bhubaneswar: A team from the Cyber Crime and Economic Offence Police Station in the capital city visited the Kharvel Nagar police station here on Thursday and scrutinized all the digital evidence collected in connection with the death of DJ Azex, aka Akshaya Maharana, who was found hanging in his room on March 19 evening.
The team, led by Cyber Crime and Economic Offence Police Station IIC, examined all digital evidence related to DJ Azex, including his emails, social media accounts, mobile phone and laptop.
Talking to reporters at the Kharvel Nagar police station, Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police Prateek Singh said, “We have taken all complaints lodged by DJ Azex’s family and the allegations levelled by them relating to his death seriously and are investigating the case from all angles. Now, we have deployed our cyber crime team to collect digital evidence.”
“Once we collect all the evidence related to the artiste’s death we will be able to confirm why he took such an extreme step and if anyone abetted him to take his life,” the DCP added.
The DCP said that the probe is being undertaken on basis of a complaint lodged by his mother.
It is worth mentioning here that a few photographs of DJ Azex apparently showed him depressed and an email purportedly sent by him to his alleged girlfriend came to the light. The photographs and the email led many to suggest that DJ Azex committed suicide as he was unable to bear the trauma of breaking up with his girlfriend.
Azex’s postmortem report revealed that he died due to asphyxiation.
Earlier, Azex’s best friend Rahul had r blamed his death on a love triangle. He alleged that his girlfriend was in a relationship with another man and they were blackmailing him.
