Kendujhar: Ghasipura police in Kendujhar district have registered a case and seized a vehicle fitted with a DJ sound system for allegedly violating prescribed noise conditions during a Ganesh idol immersion procession, police said.
The incident was reported on the evening of October 4 at Podakhamana in Ward No. 15 of Anandapur municipality, where a Ganesh immersion procession was being held.
According to police, permission for the procession had been obtained from the Anandapur Sub-Collector, subject to certain conditions. However, the DJ was allegedly being played at an excessively high volume in violation of the stipulated conditions.
Police also received complaints that the loud music was causing difficulties to local residents, including heart patients.
Acting on the information, Ghasipura police seized the vehicle along with the DJ sound system and registered Police Station Case No. 418 dated October 4, 2026.
The case has been registered under Sections 223(a)(b) and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 5 of the Odisha Fireworks and Loudspeaker (Regulation) Act, 1958.
Further investigation is underway.
