Sundargarh: Keeping up with his professional training as a physician prior to becoming an legislator, Rajgangpur MLA Dr CS Raazen Ekka attended to patients at the Rajgangpur Community Health Centre (CHC) to overcome the shortage of doctors at the health facility.
“I came to know from media reports that people are facing problems due to shortage of doctors at Rajgangpur CHC. So I chipped in. I was a medical officer. It was my profession. They are our people. Though the government should have taken the responsibility. We too have a responsibility. So I don’t have any problem, I can come and work,” said Dr Ekka while attending to patients at the CHC on Thursday.
Six doctors are posted at the CHC. However, three of them are on roster duty at the health facility due to Puja holidays.
“I spoke with Rajgangpur’ Superintendent in this regard. A total of six doctors are posted at Rajgangpur. Since its Puja three doctors are on roster duty. I don’t feel there has been any lacking in service to patients. I will definitely thank Sir for the service he has rendered to patients. What more can I tell,” said Dr Dharani Ranjan Satpathy, CDMO Sundargarh.
While stating that he has very recently joined as the CDMO, Dr Satpathy admitted that around 300-400 patients visit Rajgangpur CHC daily and a good number also get admitted so there is a need for more doctors.
He said that he would be looking into the matter and make arrangements for placing some more doctors at the health facility.
