Dhenkanal: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Sunday announced that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared to develop Kapilash Temple into a world-class tourist and pilgrimage destination.
She made the announcement during her visit to the temple for darshan of Lord Chandrasekhar at Kapilash in Dhenkanal district. The shrine is regarded as one of Odisha’s most revered Shaivite centres. Thousands of devotees from across the state thronged the temple on the occasion, creating a festive atmosphere.
Speaking to reporters, Parida said the DPR aims to upgrade infrastructure and improve facilities for pilgrims. “On occasions like Mahashivratri, devotees get the opportunity for regular darshan. The proposed development will enhance amenities and promote Kapilash as a major tourist destination,” she said.
She added that coordination with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the Forest Department has already begun and development work is expected to commence soon. The project will focus on preserving the temple’s cultural heritage while ensuring better amenities for visitors.
State Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, Dhenkanal Collector Ashish Ishwar Patil and other officials also visited the temple and offered prayers.
