Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Tuesday seized 6 kg of marijuana at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) and detained two persons in connection with the case.
According to reports, the consignment, estimated to be worth around Rs 6 crore in the international market, was recovered from two passengers who had arrived on flight 6E-1066 from Bangkok. The accused, both residents of Tamil Nadu, were carrying the marijuana concealed in their luggage.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the drugs were being smuggled into the city from Bangkok.
Both persons are currently under interrogation, as authorities work to trace the larger network behind the smuggling attempt.
Further details on the intended recipients of the consignment are awaited.
