Nuapada: A truck driver was burnt to death after his vehicle went up in flames following a collision with another truck on the Biju Expressway under Sinapali police limits in Odisha’s Nuapada district in the wee hours of Friday.
The deceased driver has been identified as Muslim Khan.
According to reports, two trucks from Jharsuguda collided on the Biju Expressway at around 2.00 am on Friday. The driver of the first truck applied a sudden brake, and the truck following it crashed against it resulting in a fire. Two pedestrians tried to rescue the truck drivers but failed to save the driver of the burning truck as he was trapped inside the cabin.
On being informed, Fire Services personnel rushed to the accident site, but they too failed to rescue the driver of the burning truck. However, the truck driver in front, Ekbal Khan, is safe, said Narendra Kumar Pradhan, the Nuapada Fire Services Department station officer.
