Bhubaneswar: A truck driver was burnt to death when two trucks collided head-on and caught fire at Pastikudi village under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits in Kalahandi district in the wee hours of Saturday.
As per reports, the accident took place as a coal-laden truck collided with another truck, causing both vehicles to burst into flames. Locals present there rushed to the scene, but unfortunately, one of the drivers was trapped inside and charred to death.
The fire was so intense that it engulfed both trucks, making it difficult for rescue teams to reach the trapped drivers. Firefighters and police personnel rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.
In the fire, one truck driver was burnt alive, while the body of another driver is yet to be found.
The identity of the deceased driver is yet to be confirmed, while the other driver is reportedly missing. A rescue operation is underway to locate the missing driver.
The cause of the accident is still unknown, but it is suspected that speeding and reckless driving may have contributed to the collision.
Till the last report came in, firefighters were busy trying to douse the fire.
