Angul: One died and as many as 20 passengers were injured after the bus they were travelling in met with an accident on NH-55 near Jarapada Square in Angul district in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Hours after a bus met with an accident near Barabati Chhak in Jajpur district which claimed five lives, the bus accident report from Angul has sent shockwaves in the state.
According to sources, the bus carrying 30 passengers was on its way to Puri from Korba in Chhattisgarh when it hit a dumper parked on the roadside on NH from the rear. The bus driver however died on the spot.
On getting information, police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and started a rescue operation.
The injured were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital in Angul. The condition of five injured persons is stated to be critical.
Till the report came in, the rescue operation was underway.
