Bhubaneswar: An unidentified drone was spotted hovering around Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri in the wee hours of Sunday.
However, it is unclear who flew the drone in the prohibited airspace. The drone originated from Dlamandap Sahi at around 4 AM and approached the 12th-century shrine, circling around the temple and its vicinity. The drone even hovered over the Jagannath Temple’s Dadhinauti and circled above the Neelachakra.
Meanwhile, the police have formed a special team to investigate the incident and find the person responsible for flying the drone in the restricted zone. The team has carried out raids at several places.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan stated that flying drones over the Srimandir will be strictly dealt with, and severe action will be taken against those who committed the illegal activities. Harichandan emphasized that the security of the Srimandir will not be compromised.
