Puri: Security concerns surrounding the Shree Jagannath Temple resurfaced after a drone was reportedly spotted flying over the Srimandir on Friday, despite the temple and its adjoining areas being designated as a no-flying zone.
According to reports, the drone was seen flying from the Singhadwara area towards the Nilachakra, prompting concern among devotees and members of the servitor community.
The flying of drones over the temple and its surrounding areas is prohibited, but such incidents have reportedly been occurring repeatedly in recent months, raising questions over enforcement of the restrictions and the security arrangements around the centuries-old shrine.
Devotees expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged repeated violation of the no-flying restrictions and urged the state government and police administration to take immediate measures to prevent such incidents.
Following the latest sighting, information was reportedly conveyed to the Singhadwara police station. Police have initiated an inquiry to ascertain who operated the drone and the circumstances under which it was flown over the restricted area.
The latest incident has once again brought the issue of aerial security over the Shree Jagannath Temple into focus, with devotees seeking stricter surveillance and effective enforcement of the no-flying restrictions around the shrine.
