Balasore: In a shocking incident, a drunk driver hit a cyclist and fled the scene with the severed hand of the victim. The incident took place near Gurdaspur bridge under Raibania police station in Balasore district, on Thursday late night.
As per the report, the drunk driver’s reckless driving led to the accident, resulting in the severing of cyclist Purnachandra Mallick’s hand. The victim Purnachandra, a resident of Gurdaspur, was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries. His condition is reported to be serious, and he was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment.
In a bizarre turn of events, the driver then picked up the severed hand and drove off with it. He was eventually stopped by locals near Purunapani, about 20 kilometres from the accident site after they noticed blood dripping from his vehicle.
Upon being informed, police reached the spot and detained the driver Sania Mallick.
