Bhubaneswar: In a shocking and gruesome incident, a person in an inebriated condition allegedly murdered his father by smashing his head with a grinding stone (Silapua) in Ragunathpur village under Athagarh police station limits in Cuttack.
The deceased has been identified as Bikala Nayak, while the accused is his son Bhuti Nayak.
According to reports, Bhuti came home in an inebriated condition on Friday night. He got into a heated argument with his father over some issue. In a fit of rage, the intoxicated son picked up a heavy grinding stone and brutally attacked his father, killing him on the spot.
Alert villagers caught the accused immediately after the incident and tied him to an electricity pole before informing the police.
Athagarh police reached the spot, recovered the body, and arrested the son.
The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
