Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Saturday reviewed the progress of initiatives to strengthen the state’s millet ecosystem during a visit to the Millet Factory at Baramunda here.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Singh Deo took stock of millet processing, value addition, packaging and market linkage facilities at the factory. He also interacted with officials and stakeholders associated with the millet value chain and discussed measures to expand production, strengthen processing infrastructure, improve branding and widen market access for millet-based products.

In a post on X, Singh Deo said the initiatives were aimed at transforming millets into a sustainable source of income for farmers while advancing nutritional security across Odisha.

He highlighted the contribution of farmers, women self-help groups, entrepreneurs and development partners to the success of the state’s Shree Anna movement.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the state government was committed to promoting climate-resilient agriculture, improving farmers’ livelihoods and establishing Odisha as a leading centre for millet cultivation and innovation in the country.
