Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has reviewed the projects of Odisha Power Generating Corporation (OPGC) and Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) and directed departmental officers to expedite their implementation. The project aims to strengthen the state’s electricity infrastructure.
During the review, Singh Deo personally examined the reasons for delays in the projects and discussed with central government officials to find solutions. OPGC’s new projects include two 660 MW third-phase expansion works, a 50 MW solar project, and a flue gas desulfurization project. Additionally, issues related to fly ash management and unused abandoned void mines were discussed.
OHPC’s projects reviewed include the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project in Kalahandi, 600 MW Upper Kolab Pumped Storage Project in Koraput district, 500 MW Bali Mela Pumped Storage Project in Malkangiri, and 63 MW Khadag Hydroelectric Project in Kandhamal district.
Principal Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev instructed departmental officers to directly monitor the ongoing projects. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including OPGC Managing Director Kedar Ranjan Pandu, OHPC Director Ashish Kumar Mohanty, and Additional Secretary, Energy Department, Nibedita Mishra, among others.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that these projects will prove to be milestones in strengthening the state’s electricity infrastructure. With these initiatives, the state aims to enhance its power generation capacity and improve the overall energy landscape.
