Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Tuesday visited several flood-affected villages in Kendrapada district to assess the situation on the ground, interact with affected residents and review the ongoing relief and assistance measures.

Singh Deo visited Bhuinpur village under Sansiddha-Petapada Gram Panchayat in Aul block, where he met local residents, listened to their grievances and took stock of the relief and rehabilitation efforts being undertaken by the administration.

Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister visited Dandisahi Chhak and Krishnadaspur under Singhagaon Gram Panchayat, Harijan Sahi under Andhar Gram Panchayat, and Jagannathpur under Amrutamanohi Gram Panchayat in Pattamundai block. During the visits, he interacted with people affected by the recent floods, reviewed the distribution of relief materials and assessed the response of the local administration.

Mahakalapada MLA Durga Prasanna Nayak accompanied Singh Deo during the inspections.

The visits come days after Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi entrusted Singh Deo with the responsibility of supervising relief and rehabilitation operations in Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts as the State government intensified its response to the flood situation caused by incessant rainfall.

The State government has been conducting field-level assessments in flood-affected districts while ensuring the supply of relief materials, restoration of essential services and support for rehabilitation of affected families.

Singh Deo’s visit was aimed at monitoring the implementation of these measures and obtaining first-hand feedback from the affected communities.
