Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Monday conducted an extensive review of the flood situation and relief operations in Jagatsinghpur district, directing officials to carry out an immediate and accurate assessment of damages caused by continuous rainfall and flooding while ensuring that no affected person is deprived of government assistance.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at Sadbhavana Sabhagriha in Jagatsinghpur, Singh Deo, who has been entrusted by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi with supervising to strengthen relief and rescue operations in Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts, reviewed the situation with district officials and senior officers of various departments. State Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Swain also attended the meeting.
During the review, the Deputy Chief Minister held detailed discussions with the District Collector and senior administrative officials on the condition of low-lying and flood-affected areas across the district. He instructed the administration to undertake an immediate and comprehensive assessment of flood-related losses and to expedite relief measures.
Singh Deo directed officials to ensure that every affected family receives government assistance without delay, stressing that relief and rehabilitation efforts should continue with utmost priority until normalcy is restored. He said the State Government and the district administration are firmly standing with the people of Jagatsinghpur during the crisis and that the entire government machinery would remain on high alert.
Earlier to the review meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister visited flood-affected villages under Kostimallikpur Gram Panchayat and Poragadei Gram Panchayat in Tirtol block to assess the ground situation. He interacted with residents, took stock of their grievances and reviewed the ongoing relief and assistance measures in the affected villages. Minister Sampad Swain accompanied him during the field visits.
On Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had assigned Singh Deo the responsibility of supervising relief and rehabilitation operations in Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts as the State intensified its response to the flood situation triggered by incessant rainfall.
