Balasore: Edi-ul-Adha is a festival observed by Muslims around the world on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last day of the Islamic Calender.
In Odisha, this festival is celebrated with happiness and wishes pouring in from all around. In Balasore’s Soro, the festival there were celebrations on the occasion.
“It is a day which marks sacrifice. All world it is celebrated amid peace, happiness and brotherhood,” said a member of the Muslim community in Soro.
To mark this occasion, Muslims re-enact Ibrahim’s obedience with a symbolic sacrifice. The meat is then divided into three parts to be shared equally among family, friends and the needy.
