Bhubaneswar: Eight people were injured after being attacked by a swarm of bees near Bhokashankha under Banki area in Cuttack district on Saturday.
According to reports, the incident took place on Bhokashankha Road, where a beehive was reportedly located on a roadside tree. As locals were passing through the stretch, a sudden swarm of bees descended on them and began stinging several pedestrians.
The unexpected attack left eight persons injured, who were immediately rushed to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Banki for treatment.
Locals said the presence of the beehive on the tree had gone unnoticed, and the attack created chaos in the area for a brief period. Some people managed to run to safety, while others sustained multiple bee stings before help arrived.
