Bhubaneswar: An elderly man sustained critical injuries after being attacked by a wild bear attack in Jamapada village, Soro block, Balasore district, on Tuesday night.
The victim has been identified as Sama Singh of Jamapada village, Kesharipur Panchayat of Soro block, Balasore.
According to reports, Singh was returning from his farming field after completing his guarding duty, when a wild bear attacked him, leaving him severely injured.
Locals rushed to rescue Singh after hearing his screams. On seeing the crowd the bear fled, leaving him critically wounded.
Singh was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. After receiving first-hand treatment, he was later shifted to Balasore, citing the severity of his injuries.
The incident has left the villagers extremely terrified.
