Elderly Man Dies After Being Stung By Honeybees; Grandson Critical

Bhubaneswar: An elderly man died while his grandson sustained severe injuries after being stung by honeybees at Barangbadi village under Machhakund police limits in Malkangiri district, on Tuesday.

The deceased’s identity is yet to be ascertained.

According to sources, the elderly man along with his grandson had gone to a nearby forest to graze cattle when they were stung by a swarm of bees.

They were rescued by locals and rushed to a hospital where the elderly man died while undergoing treatment. His grandson’s condition is stated to be critical.

A month back, as many as 15 persons sustained injuries after being stung by honey bees at Demuria village under Jaleswar block in Balasore. The villagers had gone to a crematorium to attend the final rites of a fellow villager Anant Jena when honeybees attacked them.  The villagers ran hither to thither to save their lives leaving the body there.

On a tip-off, the firefighting team reached the spot and shooed away the bees.
