Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, an elderly man was seriously injured in a firecracker explosion and is currently undergoing treatment at the Bhanjanagar Medical Center.
The man, identified as Shankar Patra from Lambhai village in the Ganjam district, was preparing to sell firecrackers for the upcoming Diwali festival.
As per the reports, while Shankar was handling a firecracker, it unexpectedly exploded, causing severe injuries to both of his hands.
Locals heard the sound of the explosion and rushed to the scene, finding Shankar in critical condition. They rushed him to Bhanjanagar Medical Center in an ambulance.
The Tarasingi Police arrived shortly after and have begun an investigation into the incident.
