Nayagarh: In a shocking incident, an elderly man killed his son over a family feud in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Basant Oram (38), while the accused is Jat Oram (65) – both residents of Gayunjar village in Nuapada block of the district.
According to reports, Jat Oram and Basant did not share a good relationship and they had frequent quarrels over various domestic issues. The father and son had a violent quarrel on Tuesday night too. After dinner, Basant went to sleep in his room and after some time Jat went there with a sharp weapon and slit his son’s throat. Hearing the screams of a critically injured Basant his family members rushed to his rescue while Jat fled the scene.
Basant was taken to the Birsa Primary Health Center in the region, but the doctors attending on him pronounced him ‘brought dead’.
Later, Jat’s elder son informed the police that his father had brutally murdered his brother. On being informed, police reached Gayunjar and arrested Jat.
