Koraput: Fire Service personnel today fished out the body of an elderly man Dhanurjaya Kamar (65) from a well in Ghatbagra village under Jeypore Sadar police station limits.
Kamar had on Wednesday evening gone out to attend nature’s call and his body was found floating in a well in the vicinity of his house today morning.
Following the incident, tension prevailed in the village as fellow villagers suspected that Kamar was murdered.
While agitated villagers blocked the road suspecting it to be a case of murder, Kamar’s son Nakul Kamar lodged a written complaint with the Jeypore Sadar police station.
Nakul alleged that they had land disputes and his father could have been killed.
However, after much persuasion by IIC Jeypore Sadar police station Iswar Tandi, the agitated villagers vacated the road blockade.
“A case of unnatural death has been registered. Whether it is an unnatural death or murder will be clear after the post-mortem report of the body is available. Our investigation is in the preliminary stage,” clarified Jeypore SDPO Arup Abhishek Behera replying to queries from reporters.
