Jajpur: In a tragic incident, an elderly couple drank poison to end their lives frustrated over a family dispute in Pautpada village under Korei police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
While the wife died, her husband was fighting for life in a local hospital. The couple has been identified as Babaji Behera and his wife Umamani Behera.
According to reports, Umamani and Babaji drank poison late last night intending to end their lives. They were reported to be frustrated over family feuds. The family members rescued both in critical condition and rushed them to the Anandpur sub-district hospital where doctors declared Umamani dead. Babaji is undergoing treatment.
On being informed, Korei police reached the spot and started an investigation.
