Elderly Voter Dies At Polling Station In Balasore

Balasore: A 80-year-old voter died suddenly at a polling station in Nilagiri Assembly constituency of Balasore in the last phase of the election in Odisha on Saturday.

The old man identified as Surendra Mohanty along with his wife came to Booth No 159 at Iswarpur village in Nilagiri to cast his vote. He suddenly fell unconscious inside the booth amid hot and humid conditions. The family members immediately admitted him to a nearby health centre where doctors declared him dead.

In a separate incident, a booth-level officer (BLO) identified as Manoranjan Sahoo died in the line of duty in Binjharpur of Jajpur district. Sahoo, a teacher complained of nausea and vomiting following which he was taken to Binjharpur Health Centre where doctors declared him brought dead.
